  • A Certificate of Completion accompanied by an overall letter grade for the course will be issued to students who complete and submit all work for approval. Certificate of Completion.

  • Module 1. Lesson 1. Expressions: In our first lesson, students will learn the fundamentals of simplifying expressions. Expressions are simply one side of the equation or the other. We learn how to tackle a single side of the equation before we ever solve an equation by learning how to Combine Like Terms, Distribute, and Distribute & Combine Like Terms in the same problem.

Module 1. Lesson 2. Two Step Equations: The 2 step equation is the heartbeat of Algebra. If a student can solve this equation, they can do just about anything in Algebra.

Module 2. Lesson 3. Variables on Both Sides: Equations cannot have a variable on both sides- I give students a simple tip to make these equations a breeze.

Module 2. Lesson 4. Multi-Step Equations Part 1: This is where we combine what we learned in week 1 of simplifying expressions with solving equations with variables on both sides.

Module 2. Lesson 5. Multi-Step Equations Part 2: This is where we combine what we learned in week 1 of simplifying expressions with solving equations with variables on both sides.

Module 3. Lesson 6. Solving & Graphing Inequalities: Inequalities are almost exactly like equations. There are only a couple small differences, and we discuss those here!

Module 3. Lesson 7. Compound Inequalities: These are just like regular Inequalities, but there are two in a single problem instead of just one.

Module 4. Lesson 8. Absolute Value Equations: We write Absolute Value Equations twice to account for the reality that a positive number is the same distance away from 0 as its negative counterpart.

Module 4. Lesson 9. Absolute Value Inequalities: We write Absolute Value Inequalities twice to account for the reality that a positive number is the same distance away from 0 as its negative counterpart. Plus, we must remember our rules when solving inequalities.

This self-paced course covers the most important and foundational skills for Algebra. Whether you need a crash course for you student to catch back up to speed, or are curious if they are ready for the next level- Algebra 1, this course covers the bare bones and intricacies of Equations & Inequalities through instruction, practice worksheets, and some fun hands on activities.

I utilize the I do, We do, You do method of teaching. First, I will do and explain a problem(s). Secondly, we will do a problem(s) together as I encourage the next step but pause to give the student time to think through the process, and then finally, the students will practice problems on their own while I check for their understanding.

Students are expected to take notes during each lesson with guided notes that I provide for each lesson. Homework will be assigned weekly through the classroom and will consist of a variety of worksheets and/or activities.

Communication is key for self-paced classes, and I highly recommend students send in any questions they may have throughout their journey through the course.

Students will receive guided notes and worksheets in the classroom that correspond to each Weeks Lesson.
